Step-by-step instructions for Google Chrome
- The scan program is downloaded: click on the ScanCircle.exe file in the bottom left corner.
- In Windows 10, a warning may be given that the program isn’t a verified app from the Store: click ‘Install anyway’ (don’t worry, it will NOT be installed but only executed once).
- Or you may be asked to confirm that you want to run this file: click ‘Run’.
- Next, the scan program is run and the scan is automatically started, the results are sent to the ScanCircle server and the advices are shown.
Frequently asked scan questions:
When trying to start the scan program, I get one of the following error messages:
- Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 is required…
- The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)
- Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application
- Cannot find a required DLL file, MSCOREE.DLL
In that case you should download and install the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0.
At the start of the scan program a ‘Microsoft .NET Security Warning’ balloon is shown.
Download the scan program, save it to disk first and then run/open it.
The scan program is interrupted/cancelled.
Some anti-virus/spyware programs check the reputation/prevalence of downloaded programs. When a new version of the scan program has just been released, this check may fail and the scan program is interrupted or canceled. In that case, tell your anti-virus/spyware program that it is okay to continue the scan program or indicate that it may be started normally next time. Otherwise try and use the ScanCircle app (if available for your operating system).
Why do I get a firewall warning?
The scan needs access to Internet to send the scan data to the ScanCircle server to determine the advices. If this fails, you can save the scan file locally (e.g. on the desktop) and manually send it to the ScanCircle server.
I get another error message or have question about the scan program.
Please provide us with the message using the contact form together with any relevant details of your device (operating system version, web browser used and the steps you have taken).
