On Friday, April 11, 2025, EasyITGuys joined the Grantsburg Job & Career Fair hosted by Grantsburg High School (GHS). A vibrant event showcasing local businesses, career paths, and education opportunities for students as well as community members. The event drew students and neighboring employers. We were thankful to be part of this community gathering.

🎓 Engaging Students About IT Careers

At our booth, our tech specialists met with GHS students and youth from iForward (the school’s online charter program). We shared:

  • What it’s like to work in IT today: From hands-on device repair to cyber‑security, remote support, and managed IT services.
  • Possible career paths: Computer technician, helpdesk support, cybersecurity specialist, systems admin, and more.
  • Job opportunities: Emphasizing the growing demand for tech roles and how important it is to do what you love. In small towns like Grantsburg, Webster, Siren, and Danbury; having an expertise in technology will provide an edge.

It was really fun to see the student reactions to our questions.

🤝 Networking with Local Businesses & Employers

Aside from students, the fair featured booths from various area employers ranging from agriculture and manufacturing to healthcare and logistics. While Wisconsin’s Job Center of Wisconsin runs large job fairs in bigger cities, events like Grantsburg’s provide closer, more personal connections ideal for small business owners and local job seekers alike.

We connected with:

  • Local schools and trade programs discussing internship, training, and scholarship offerings tied to IT and technical trades.
  • Regional employers where we have quick conversations on how easy online and remote tech support can help their daily operations.
  • Community leaders who sharing interest in exploring partnerships to offer computer literacy, cybersecurity, and remote device maintenance for residents.

🔧 Why Tech Representation Matters in Grantsburg

As Grantsburg remains a prime retirement and recreation spot, many locals rely on everyday technology to stay connected. Ongoing trends in remote work and lifelong education mean reliable tech support is crucial, just like it is in cities. By showing up at a high school–level job fair, EasyITGuys positioned our team as:

  • Committed local IT professionals, not just outside “tech guys.”
  • Partners in workforce development, mentoring students and discussing future career paths.
  • Accessible service providers, eager to support residents and small employers with everything from virus removal and data backup to secure remote support.

💡 What We Learned

There’s real interest in IT careers even in small communities. We had several conversations, while short for many, relating to coding, hardware repair, and cybersecurity. It’s very clear that local tech literacy needs support and that service demand is growing across sectors. Service sections such as farms and small manufacturers to home offices and local nonprofits, reliable tech services are increasingly in demand.

📅 What’s Next for EasyITGuys in Burnett County

We look forward to continuing our engagement with IT Career Talks & Demos when available. We’re in talks about scheduling visits back to Grantsburg schools to offer additional Q&A sessions. We’ve also considered:

  • Community Workshops: Planning free or low-cost sessions on cybersecurity awareness, device care, and safe internet practices.
  • Local Employer Support: Reaching out to small businesses in Grantsburg, Siren, Danbury, and Webster offering a courtesy “Advisory” session to discuss technology and cybersecurity needs (known and unknown).

🧠 Closing Thoughts

The Grantsburg Job Fair reaffirmed how tech plays an essential role in community growth, education, and employment. This was particularly true even in smaller villages like Grantsburg.
