Watch Optery’s Official Getting Started Video #
This video, hosted by Optery, introduces the dashboard and the first steps after registration.
If the video does not display, watch it through Optery’s official Help Center.
Step 1: Activate Your Optery Invitation #
New members receive an email invitation from Optery. Open the message and follow its activation link to set up your account. Invitations expire, so activate yours promptly.
- Find the Optery invitation in your inbox.
- Check your spam, junk, and promotions folders if you do not see it.
- Open the invitation and follow the instructions to activate your account.
- After activation, sign in to your Optery account.
Important: If you received an invitation through EasyITGuys, use that invitation rather than registering separately through Optery’s public sign-up page. If you already have an Optery account, contact EasyITGuys about your membership invitation before creating another account.
If your invitation is missing or expired, contact EasyITGuys through your usual member contact channel or IT Support Panel. We can answer basic questions about access to the membership benefit.
Step 2: Complete Your Profile for More Accurate Results #
Optery searches people-search websites and data brokers for information that may be associated with you. Accurate details help Optery distinguish your records from those of people with similar names.
After activating your account, open Manage Profile in your Optery dashboard. Review your details and add relevant information when you are comfortable providing it.
- Your full name and middle name, if applicable
- Previous names, maiden names, and common nicknames such as Steve and Steven
- Current and previous residential addresses
- Phone numbers and email addresses associated with you
- Your full date of birth, if requested and appropriate
- Other identifying information requested by Optery that helps distinguish your records
You do not need to enter every optional detail immediately. More complete information can improve matching accuracy. Review Optery’s privacy policy before deciding what to share.
Privacy reminder: Enter personal information only on Optery’s official website or app. Do not send your password, date of birth, or full profile details to EasyITGuys.
Step 3: Review Your Exposure Report and Dashboard #
Optery scans supported data broker and people-search websites for potential matches. Your dashboard and Exposure Report help you see where your personal information may be publicly displayed.
- Sign in to your Optery dashboard.
- Find the Link to Profile column in the list of data brokers.
- Select View to open a possible listing. Review the available screenshots in the Screenshot Viewer.
- Start by reviewing approximately 10 to 20 results. This helps you understand the kinds of information that may be exposed.
- If you see results that do not belong to you, revisit Manage Profile to improve matching accuracy.
Good to know: A search result or screenshot is not always a confirmed match. A listing may belong to someone with a similar name. A View link may also lead to a search page or an outdated listing. Check each result before assuming that it identifies you.
You can also find available Exposure Reports under Reports in your Optery dashboard. Report availability and refresh timing depend on Optery’s service conditions.
Optional: Install the Optery Mobile App #
You can manage your Optery account from a web browser or from the official Optery app. The app lets you review exposure information and follow removal progress when your plan includes removal services.
- iPhone and iPad: Download Optery from the Apple App Store.
- Android phones and tablets: Download Optery from Google Play.
Sign In on Your Mobile Device #
- Activate your membership account using the invitation first.
- Install the official Optery app from the appropriate app store.
- Open the app and sign in with your existing Optery account.
- Review your Exposure Report and available dashboard features.
Installing the app is optional. It does not add paid removal coverage or require you to purchase a removal plan. Read the official Optery mobile app guide for more details.
Step 4: Choose How to Handle Exposed Information #
You can use the removal instructions included with your membership or choose an optional paid plan that submits requests on your behalf.
Option 1: Request Removals Yourself #
Your included monitoring benefit provides exposure reporting and tools to help you request removal from supported data brokers yourself. You can do this without purchasing an automated removal plan.
- Open your Optery Dashboard.
- Find a data broker listing you want to address.
- In the More Info column, select Show More.
- Find the broker’s Primary Opt Out URL or other provided removal instructions.
- Open the broker’s opt-out page and follow its requirements to submit a request.
- Keep track of requests you submit and check whether the listing is still visible later.
Security tip: Optery recommends using a separate email address dedicated to opt-out requests. This helps protect your primary email address from additional data collection or unwanted marketing. Data brokers should not require payment just to process an opt-out request.
For illustrated instructions, read Optery’s official Self-Service Removal Tools guide.
Option 2: Choose Optional Automated Removal Services #
If you prefer Optery to submit and manage removal requests for you, consider an optional paid plan. Core, Extended, and Ultimate all include automated removal services. The plans differ in coverage and additional assistance.
- Core: Entry-level automated removals for a more limited name and location combination.
- Extended: Broader coverage, including additional name and location variations, with more assistance.
- Ultimate: The broadest personal coverage and additional eligible custom removal options.
To discuss purchasing or upgrading an Optery plan through EasyITGuys, contact our team. See our Personal Data Monitoring and Removal With Optery guide for the residential service comparison.
Important: Automated requests do not guarantee instant or permanent removal. Many requests begin early in the subscription, but individual data brokers may take weeks or months to process them. Optery checks for results and continues its removal work over time.
Step 5: Keep Your Profile and Exposure Information Current #
Data brokers can publish new listings or add information after an earlier removal. Return to Optery periodically to review your exposure and update your profile after a move, name change, or other relevant change. If you have a paid removal plan, check your dashboard to follow the progress of submitted requests. The status Removed or Not Found may mean either that a listing was removed or that Optery did not find a matching listing. It does not always mean a removal request was completed.

Frequently Asked Questions #
Is monitoring and reporting included in my EasyITGuys membership? #
Yes. Eligible EasyITGuys memberships include Optery personal data monitoring, Exposure Reports, and self-service removal guidance at no additional cost. Automated removal plans are optional paid services.
Does the included membership benefit automatically remove my information? #
No. It helps you discover possible exposures and provides instructions for requesting removals yourself. Automated requests require a paid Optery removal plan.
How long does it take for a removal request to work? #
There is no guaranteed timeline. Some sites act quickly, while others can take weeks or months. Optery’s paid plans submit and monitor requests over time. A request being submitted does not mean the listing has already been removed.
What if a search result belongs to someone else? #
This can happen, especially with common names. Check the listing before taking action. Add accurate information through Manage Profile to help Optery improve its matches.
Do I need to download the mobile app? #
No. The app is optional. You can access Optery from a supported web browser. If you install the app, sign in with the account you already activated.
Can Optery remove everything about me from the internet? #
No. Optery primarily focuses on supported data brokers and people-search websites. News articles, social media posts, and many other sources fall outside normal removal coverage. A listing that was removed may also reappear later.
Who should I contact if I cannot find my invitation? #
Contact EasyITGuys for basic membership invitation coordination. For technical problems inside an activated Optery account, contact Optery Support.
